Bonnie’s Quilt
This quilt was made from the t‑shirts that belonged to my step‑mom, Bonnie, who passed away last January. Her loss was unexpected, sudden and hard on all of us. In the days afterward, my dad insisted that my sister and I go through her clothes and take anything we wanted. Bonnie had an amazing wardrobe, but we weren’t looking for things to wear. Instead, we looked for the shirts that felt most like her — the ones we remembered her in, the ones that carried her personality.
We gathered those shirts and I turned them into a quilt that my dad now keeps on his bed, a quiet way to remember her.
This quilt was pieced on Bertie (my new Bernina 770 QE Plus) and quilted on Abby (my HandiQuilter Amara 20 on a Studio II Frame).
